“Need a little more spice”: Why were the Monaco GP rules changed this year?

This Sunday's Monaco GP promises to be more tense and spectacular than ever, with the new requirement to make at least two pit stops.
By Alyssia ThuraisamyAh Monaco! Its luxury yachts, its princely palace and... its Formula 1 Grand Prix. At 3.337 kilometers long, this legendary street circuit stands out for its technicality, its tight bends and its unparalleled scenery.
A decorum that led Esteban Ocon to say this week that "Monaco is crazy." "It's crazy. Honestly, it's crazy to think that we're really driving at 300 km/h on the streets," the French driver of the Haas team told AFP. "There are safety rails that have been put up, but it's a pure city. And that we still have the chance to do that nowadays is just crazy. It's a circuit with so much history, there are so many people who come from all over the world to support us and watch us. It's really special to be able to be there and push these cars to the maximum on these streets."
